Job Responsibilities
  • Accurately prepare and frame CUSDEC entries for imported and exported goods in compliance with customs regulations.
  • Review and verify shipping documents such as invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin to ensure all necessary information is correct and complete.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, shipping agents, freight forwarders, and port authorities to facilitate the timely and accurate clearance of cargo.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all customs regulations, including tariff classifications, duty rates, and import/export restrictions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customs declarations, shipments, and related documentation. 
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in documentation or customs entries to prevent delays or penalties.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to management or customs authorities regarding the status of shipments, customs duties, and compliance issues.
  • Identify areas for process improvement in customs clearance operations and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Candidate Profile
  • In-depth understanding of local and international customs regulations, including tariff classifications, import/export restrictions, and documentation requirements.
  • High level of accuracy in preparing and verifying documents to ensure all information complies with customs requirements and minimizes delays or penalties.
  • Ability to analyze shipping documents and data to accurately frame CUSDEC entries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with customs authorities, shipping agents, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with customs software and systems used for CUSDEC entries and other related tasks (e.g., ASYCUDA, ICUMS).
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Aptitude for resolving discrepancies in documentation or entries to ensure smooth customs clearance.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to ethical standards and compliance requirements.
