Job Details
- Position: Tax Accountant
- Location: Male' City, Maldives
- Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
- Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Sunday to Thursday)
- Start Date: Immediate/Negotiable
Compensation Package
- Salary Range: MVR 15,000 - 20,000 per month (negotiable based on experience)
- Equivalent: Approximately LKR 300,000 - 400,000 per month
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Compliance
- Maintain accurate financial records according to applicable financial reporting standards and firm policies
- Prepare and issue invoices timely, ensuring effective cash and credit control
- Monitor overdue accounts and implement collection strategies per firm credit policies
- Process supplier invoices and vendor payments according to SOPs
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations
- Conduct regular bank statement reconciliations
Tax Compliance & Filing
Prepare and submit statutory tax filings including:
- GST Returns
- Employee Withholding Tax (EWT) Returns
- Non-resident Withholding Tax (NWT) Returns
- Income Tax Returns
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits
Client Advisory Services
- Advise clients on tax law obligations in the Maldives
- Perform tax computations and reviews for diverse client portfolio
- Manage tax audits and filings on behalf of clients
- Provide expert guidance on Maldivian tax regulations
Professional Development & Training
- Assist in developing training materials and seminar content
- Coordinate and participate as trainer in professional seminars
- Stay updated on latest tax law changes and regulations
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in accounting or tax
- Strong knowledge of Maldivian tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, etc.) is an advantage
