Job Overview
  • LankaStaff is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Dog Care Program Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of a well-established dog care and volunteer program in Akurala, Galle.
  • This role is ideal for a passionate, organized, and compassionate individual who enjoys working with animals and people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate will lead the dog care program, coordinate international volunteers, ensure the welfare of the dogs, and continuously improve the overall volunteer experience and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Dog Care Program.
  • Coordinate and supervise local and international volunteers participating in the program.
  • Ensure the health, welfare, and well-being of all dogs within the sanctuary.
  • Plan and coordinate daily activities, feeding schedules, enrichment activities, and volunteer assignments.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and program documentation.
  • Monitor program performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure volunteers receive appropriate orientation, guidance, and ongoing support throughout their stay.
  • Maintain effective communication with management, staff, veterinarians, and volunteers.
  • Ensure the sanctuary operates in accordance with animal welfare standards and organizational policies.
  • Assist in developing new initiatives to enhance the dog care and volunteer experience.

Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Zoology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Management, Social Sciences, or another relevant field.
  • Veterans or retired military personnel are encouraged to apply and will be given preference.
  • Previous experience in program coordination, project management, animal welfare, hospitality, or volunteer management will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with international volunteers.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a diverse team.
  • Compassionate, proactive, and committed to animal welfare.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic administrative tasks.
