Senior Multimedia Content Creator & Community Manager

We build sustainable, locally led animal-welfare solutions and a compassionate society where every animal is treated with respect and kindness.

Position Overview 
Find and tell Dogstar stories from the field. You’ll source, interview, film, photograph, and edit compelling short-form content, then send five high-quality copy-led content pieces per week (with photos/video) to the UK team for final sign-off. You’ll also manage our Sinhala spay-neuter Facebook group and triage inbox enquiries related to Sri Lanka services. This role suits a proactive self-starter who thrives outside an office.

Key Outputs (weekly)
  • 5 content packets to the UK team (each includes: short caption/copy, photos and/or 15–60s reel/video, suggested hooks/CTAs, alt text, facts, and consent notes).
  • 2–3 Reels/vertical videos (15–60s), plus stills/carousels to grow the content bank.
  • Sinhala FB Group: daily moderation (Mon–Fri).
  • Inbox & email triage: first reply within 1 business day; clear next step within 2 business days.
  • DAM compliance: 100% of new assets uploaded and fully tagged within 48 hours.

Core Responsibilities

Photography & Videography
  • Capture high-quality photos and video on mobile and/or DSLR, covering spay-neuter outreach, clinics, community engagement, and feeding programmes.
  • Conduct short interviews; ensure informed consent and dignity at all times.

Content Creation & Editing
  • Conceptualise and produce engaging Instagram Reels, TikToks, and Facebook Reels, aligned to current trends and platform best practice.
  • Edit in CapCut (or equivalent); export platform-ready formats and aspect ratios (9:16; 1:1/4:5 as needed).
  • Prepare first-draft captions (English) and Sinhala subtitles/captions (Tamil is a plus).
  • UK sign-off: deliver packages D-1/D-2 ahead of scheduled posts; implement edits within 4 UK business hours.

Community & Inbox Management
  • Own the Sinhala spay–neuter Facebook Group: approve/decline posts, remove spam, enforce rules, keep conversations helpful and respectful.
  • Handle Facebook inbox and shared email for Sri Lanka service-user enquiries using templates and an escalation matrix (no remote diagnosis; emergencies to nearest vet).

Digital Asset Management (DAM)
  • Upload, name, and tag all new assets within 24 hours; attach captions, SRT subtitle files (EN/SI/TA where applicable), consent forms, and mark “Approved by UK” after sign-off.

Public Engagement & Events
  • Confidently engage with community members and pet owners at clinics and outreach events to capture the moments that matter.

(Optional) Drone
  • If experienced/licensed, use drones to capture aerial perspectives that enhance stories (not mandatory).

Requirements (must-have)
  • Sri Lankan National.
  • Fluent in Sinhala and English (spoken and written); Tamil proficiency is a plus.
  • Proven experience in photography/videography and short-form social editing (portfolio/links required).
  • Ability to drive a tuk-tuk or ride a motorbike (moped) with a valid Sri Lankan licence and safely transport camera gear.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; confident interviewing and interacting with the public.
  • Passion for animal welfare and Dogstar’s mission; impeccable judgement on dignity and safeguarding.
  • Highly self-motivated, organised, reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility for varied hours, including some weekends, based on field needs.

Nice to Have
  • Meta Business Suite familiarity; basic analytics (watch time, retention, saves/shares).
  • Experience using Canva to edit photos/videos.
  • Basic motion graphics/thumbnail design.
  • Experience in charity, community health, veterinary or One Health contexts.

KPIs (how success is measured)
  • Throughput & timeliness: 5 content packets/week delivered D-1/D-2; 2–3 reels/week.
  • DAM discipline: ≥95% of weekly assets uploaded and fully tagged within 24 hours; zero misfiled assets.
  • Quality: ≥70% first-pass approvals from UK (≤1 edit round); zero safeguarding or privacy breaches.
  • Community: Group prompts ≥2/week; first response to inbox/email within 1 business day ≥95%; spam removed within 2 business hours.

Tools & Logistics
  • CapCut (mobile/desktop), smartphone with gimbal/clip mics (and/or DSLR), Meta Business Suite, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, SRT subtitle files, Dogstar DAM.
  • Frequent field travel in Negombo/Gampaha and nearby areas.
