Marine & Civil Construction Project Manager
Position Overview
- The Marine & Civil Construction Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale marine and civil construction projects including dredging, reclamation, shore protection, revetment works, and infrastructure development. The incumbent will manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and serve as the principal technical and commercial interface with clients and contractors.
Key Requirements
- Work Location: Sri Lanka (with travel to Maldives project sites as required)
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in marine and/or civil construction project management, with demonstrated experience in dredging, reclamation, or shore protection works
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Project Management (PMP/ PRINCE2) an advantage
- Professional Reg: Registration with IESL or equivalent professional body preferred
- Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for marine and civil construction contracts from mobilisation through to completion and handover
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, resource plans, and budgets in coordination with senior management
- Oversee site engineering teams, subcontractors, and equipment operators to ensure safe and efficient project execution
- Serve as the primary technical and contractual liaison with clients including HDC, MIID, Boskalis (BWM), and government agencies
- Review and approve BOQs, method statements, shop drawings, and engineering calculations
- Monitor project progress, prepare regular client progress reports, and proactively manage risks and delays
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE regulations, environmental requirements, and contractual obligations
- Manage procurement of materials, plant, and equipment in coordination with the logistics and procurement teams
- Review and negotiate variation orders, claims, and contractual correspondence with clients and subcontractors
