We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager to join our startup team in establishing and maintaining world-class quality standards at our new automotive seat belt manufacturing facility. This is a unique opportunity to shape the quality culture and standards of an emerging organization from the ground up
As a Quality Assurance Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing a robust quality management system, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring product compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality standards, and FMVSS and ECE R16 regulatory requirements. You will also collaborate with production teams to support and enhance production processes, guaranteeing the highest quality in every stage of manufacturing.
The role requires frequent travel to our sister sites in USA & China during the initial setup and transfer phases and should be comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment and capable of coordinating closely with teams overseas to ensure a successful technology and knowledge transfer.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) framework for the new facility. This includes introduction and development of processes, procedures, and standards aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, and key industry regulations (FMVSS, ECE R16).
- Hire, train, and mentor a quality assurance team to support the facility's operations. Instill a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and quality awareness within the team.
- Design and establish quality control checkpoints and test protocols at every stage of production, ensuring product compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Oversee the development and execution of product testing procedures, including destructive and non-destructive testing for seat belts. Ensure that products meet safety, reliability, and durability standards before shipment. Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with applicable standard, regulatory and customer quality requirements. Set up regular product inspections and audits to ensure all processes are followed and corrective actions are taken when necessary.
- Lead the investigation of any quality issues or product defects through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address any issues in the manufacturing process.
- Develop processes for evaluating and managing suppliers to ensure that raw materials and components meet required quality standards. Conduct supplier quality audits and establish supplier quality agreements.
- Introduce and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including implementing quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen, to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve manufacturing processes.
Core Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical Preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, with at least 3 years in managerial capacity.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Prior experience in IATF 16949 or AS9100 Quality Management System is highly valued.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with FEMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA etc.
- Experience with Infor Syteline ERP system is an added advantage.
