The MEP QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for implementing and monitoring QA/QC requirements for all electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, control, fire protection, ELV, and MEP related works associated with the project. This includes collector cabling, cable laying, overhead lines, transformers, switchgear, earthing, lightning protection, control systems, monitoring systems, testing, commissioning, and related MEP installations.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement the MEP QA/QC Plan, Inspection and Test Plans, checklists, testing formats, and quality control procedures.
- Review approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, material submittals, equipment data sheets, and manufacturer recommendations before installation.
- Inspect and verify the quality of MEP/electrical works, including:
- collector network installation
- Underground cable laying, trenching, bedding, warning tape, backfilling, and route markers
- Overhead line works, poles, conductors, insulators, fittings, and clearances
- Cable terminations, joints, glands, lugs, and cable identification
- Witness and verify electrical tests.
- Insulation resistance tests
- Continuity tests
- Earth resistance tests
- High voltage / pressure tests where applicable
- Ensure MEP installations comply with approved drawings, CEB requirements, manufacturer instructions, project specifications, and applicable international standards.
- Check that all equipment and materials delivered to site are approved, undamaged, traceable, properly stored, and supported by certificates, factory test reports, and delivery inspection records.
- Raise NCRs, site observations, and corrective action reports for non-compliant electrical or MEP works.
- Verify that temporary and permanent electrical works are installed safely and that testing/energization activities follow approved procedures.
- Coordinate with the Electrical Engineer, MEP Engineer, Civil QA/QC Engineer, Contractor, Consultant, testing agency, and Employer's Representative for inspections and approvals.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering from a recognized university.
- NDT/HNDE / NDES / Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with strong QA/QC experience may be accepted for inspector-level roles, but for the position of MEP QA/QC Engineer, a degree is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP QA/QC.
- Experience with medium-voltage systems, cabling, overhead lines, transformers, switchgear, earthing, SCADA, and testing/commissioning will be an added advantage.
- Electrical QA/QC plans, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements, checklists, and testing procedures.
- ISO 9001-based quality management systems.
