Quantity Surveyor - Marine & Civil Construction

Projects & Operations Division

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quantity Surveyor Marine & Civil Construction will be responsible for managing all cost and contractual aspects of marine and civil construction projects from inception to completion. The incumbent will ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality standards, contractual compliance, and commercial efficiency.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying within marine and civil construction projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or an related discipline
  • Age 35 to 45 years
  • Language Fluent in English (written and spoken); Sinhala/Tamil will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Advanced Excel, CostX, CCS Candy, AutoCAD, MS Project, or equivalent quantity surveying software

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation for marine and civil construction projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate cost planning and budgeting.
  • Evaluate contractor and supplier quotations and provide commercial recommendations.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, and budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare interim valuations, payment certificates, variations, and final accounts.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and procurement teams on commercial matters.
  • Identify cost risks and recommend value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare commercial reports, cost forecasts, and management presentations.
  • Support procurement activities, supplier negotiations, and contract documentation.
  • Ensure all quantity surveying activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.

  • Excellent analytical and numerical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and cost control.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer literacy in quantity surveying and project management software.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach

The successful candidates will be offered opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. A Starting Salary of 300,000 LKR.
