Contract Manager - Marine & Civil Construction

Projects & Operations Division

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Contract Manager Marine & Civil Construction will be responsible for managing all contractual and commercial aspects of marine and civil construction projects. The incumbent will ensure contracts are administered effectively, risks are minimized, and contractual obligations are fulfilled while protecting the company’s commercial interests.

Criteria Requirement
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in contract management within marine and civil construction projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline
  • Age 35 to 50 years
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); Sinhala/Tamil will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Advanced Excel, MS Project, Contract Management Systems, and document control software

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer contracts for marine and civil construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and statutory requirements.
  • Manage contract variations, claims, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.
  • Review tender documents and provide commercial and contractual advice during procurement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, legal advisors, contractors, and clients on contractual matters.
  • Monitor contract performance and identify contractual risks and mitigation measures.
  • Prepare commercial reports, correspondence, and contractual documentation.
  • Support project teams in interpreting contract provisions and resolving contractual issues.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of contracts, amendments, claims, and project documentation.
  • Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and the Board of Investment (BOI) where required.

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC or equivalent).

  • Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
