Associate Software Engineer | Colombo, Sri Lanka (Hybrid)
We are seeking an early-career Software Engineer build real-world software solutions with guidance from experienced engineers. You will work on client implementations and internal products, develop features end-to- end, grow your skills in the Frappe/ERPNext ecosystem, and become a valuable member of a collaborative engineering team.
Salary: Rs. 150,000 /=
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build features end-to-end on client ERPNext implementations, including custom DocTypes, server/client scripts, workflows, and integrations, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Develop and maintain custom Frappe applications using upgrade-safe approaches without modifying the core framework.
- Contribute to product modules, including Sri Lankan compliance solutions (VAT, EPF/ETF, PAYE, IRD) and companion mobile applications.
- Build reports and dashboards to provide clients with meaningful business insights.
- Support client data migration processes, including data mapping, validation, and importing.
- Write and maintain automated tests, participate in code reviews, and apply engineering best practices.
- Investigate and resolve client issues by reproducing bugs and implementing fixes with team guidance.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation for developed features.
- Work with REST APIs and integrations when required for client and product solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through testing, deployment processes, and team collaboration
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 0-2 years of software development experience, including internships, academic projects, or strong personal projects.
- Strong knowledge of Python and working experience with JavaScript.
- Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, and basic data modelling concepts.
- Familiarity with Git-based team workflows, including branches, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Basic command-line experience and familiarity with Linux environments.
- Ability to understand requirements, develop solutions independently, and seek guidance when needed.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Basic understanding or exposure to automated testing and CI/CD practices.
- Experience or interest in mobile application development using technologies such as Flutter or React Native is an advantage.
- Exposure to Frappe/ERPNext is an advantage.
- Interest in business software, ERP systems, and Sri Lankan accounting/compliance domains is an advantage.
