Product Development Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the complete product development process from concept through to bulk production.
- Work closely with customers to understand product requirements, specifications, and expectations.
- Coordinate with the design team to develop innovative products aligned with market trends.
- Prepare development timelines and ensure all milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Source suitable fabrics, trims, accessories, and raw materials that meet customer requirements and compliance standards.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, sample materials, and technical information.
- Review product specifications, technical packs, artwork, and construction details before sample development.
- Monitor sample development, ensuring quality, workmanship, functionality, and aesthetics meet customer expectations.
- Evaluate product costs and work with sourcing and merchandising teams to achieve target pricing.
- Coordinate product testing, certification, and compliance requirements where applicable.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure smooth transition from development to bulk manufacturing.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Product Development, Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Fashion Design, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in product development, preferably in toys, baby products, apparel, or consumer goods.
- Knowledge of product costing and value engineering.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
- Knowledge of international compliance requirements (EN71, ASTM, CPSIA, REACH, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GOLS, etc., where applicable).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
